Mad Mike visits the Rotary Secret Garage – A night to remember for Greece’s rotary scene

On the evening of Friday, May 30th, just before the big Red Bull Showrun by ALUMIL at Tatoi Airport, we witnessed a visit that made history in the Greek rotary scene.

Mad Mike Whiddett, one of the most iconic drift drivers in the world and a devoted rotary enthusiast, stepped through the doors of the Rotary Secret Garage to get a first-hand look at what’s going on in Greece’s unique rotary community.

Mad Mike was there following an invitation from Xenos Papadopoulos, owner of the Rotary Secret Garage, and the rest of the crew: Liontis Vrakas, Vasilis Katsoudas, Marios Spanos, and Yuriy Nikolayev.

The idea was born during their meet-up in anticipation of the showrun at Tatoi Airport — and it didn’t take long for it to come to life. After all, when you love something as much as these people love rotaries, moments like this just... happen.

The visit kicked off with an in-depth tour of the Rotary Secret Garage facilities, where Mad Mike got to see some of the current builds up close — several of which are truly one-of-a-kind in Europe.

But the real highlight of the evening came when he stepped outside and saw the crowd and cars that had gathered. The street was literally packed with people and Mazdas. RX-7s, RX-8s, MX-5s, and all kinds of custom rotary builds had taken over the area. Among the standouts were Marios Spanos’ war-ready RX-7, Aggelos’ RX-8, and Giannis’ rotary-powered Miata NA.

Mad Mike couldn’t stop smiling — chatting about the builds, taking photos with owners, and signing everything from t-shirts and posters to car parts.

It was a night full of fuel, passion, and the unmistakable sound of rotaries echoing everywhere. An unexpected but totally authentic pre-show to what’s coming at Tatoi.

One thing’s for sure: Mad Mike is leaving Greece with the best impression of its rotary scene — and we’re left with massive smiles after witnessing it all up close.
